🎙 In the latest episode of DAO or Never we are joined by Sky Minert, a full time DAOist focused on supporting projects that enable DAOs to function in a truly decentralized manner. To better understand how DAOs actually work, tune in. Also available on Apple and Spotify.
❓ Who is responsible for DAOs? Following the filing of a federal civil enforcement action against members of the Ooki DAO over digital asset trading violations, the cryptocurrency community hasn’t held back their criticism. It’s been called “the most egregious example of regulation by enforcement in the history of crypto.” Lawmaking via enforcement has been known to stifle innovation in the US and some believe this action could discourage developing or even "merely participating" in DAOs. What do you think? A hearing is scheduled for November 9.
₿ At the other end of the enforcement scale, California Governor Gavin Newsom vetoed a 'BitLicense' regulatory bill, stating that crypto regulation is premature since blockchain technology is still evolving. The end result: protection for the burgeoning cryptocurrency industry and the fostering of innovation.
🥋 The best part about early web3 is seeing how it’s being used. Karate Combat became the first sports league to launch a DAO and transition governance to its fans and athletes. Kudos on leading the evolution of fan engagement.
🪂 Exercising another favorite element of web3, whereby users reap the gains of the growing enterprises they support, Safe (formerly Gnosis Safe) accompanied the launch of SafeDAO with 50 million airdropped Safe tokens. On a mission to make ownership in web3 more accessible, collaborative, and secure, the DAO-ification and decentralization of Safe is designed to result in an impenetrable, composable protocol that can serve all pockets of web3. Read a more comprehensive update on the governance model here. And, when you claim your SAFE tokens, select Izk.eth as your delegate! Yes, we’re biased.
🏹 At Logos, though not focused on crypto, we’re obsessed with UI. Therefore, it’s worth noting that trading platform Robinhood is releasing the beta version of its web3 wallet. A successful product will considerably reduce the complexities of web3 and DeFi, making both more accessible to everyone. Welcome all!
💰 Pantera Capital is raising $1.25 billion for its second blockchain fund. The most newsworthy aspect of this story is the scale of the confidence illustrated in web3. Pantera is happy to provide liquidity for those giving up now because they’re bullish on the coming decades.
💣 I told you so is such an ugly phrase, but… Reality.ETH is under active attack using the exploit path Isaac Patka was warning about earlier this year.
📖 The Blockchain Council - a group of experts and enthusiasts evangelizing blockchain research and development, products, and knowledge for a better world - recently launched a DAO certification program for those interested in furthering their web3 and DAO careers. The certification promises a better understanding of the workings of DAOs. Or you can do what many DAOists have done and join a DAO, find the bounty board, and sweat your way to knowledge.
