🎙 In the latest episode of DAO or Never we speak with Josh Tan and Michael Zargham, principal investigators at Metagov, an interdisciplinary research collective building standards and infrastructure for digital self-governance. If you’re thoughtful and curious about governance on the Internet, tune in. Available on Apple and Spotify.
Highlights
💲 Even More Decentralized Finance. Members of DeFi protocol Maker DAO, voted to decentralize the protocol further by breaking it up into smaller MetaDAOs. Amongst the many elements making this newsworthy is that the vote of the community overruled the desires of major investors. Web3 is living up to its promise of being for the people, by the people.
₿ UK Recognizing Crypto. The UK lower house of Parliament voted to regulate cryptocurrency via the proposed Financial Services and Markets Bill. This is an important first step - amongst several steps - in the recognition of bitcoin and digital assets as regulated financial instruments by the UK government.
🌱 Entrepreneur, Meet Investor. Whether you’re a builder of tools or of wealth, check out CoinList, a leader in web3 token sales and community building, and a platform for early-stage entrepreneurs to connect with a community of investors. CoinList Seed just announced its Fall 2022 cohort of projects and we’re excited to watch them grow.
💥 DAOs for Good. We’re not the only ones who think philanthropy is an ideal use case for DAOs. The Impact DAO Book, coming this November, is a decentralized, collaborative, open-source project providing wisdom and insight for new web3 entrants on how to use the space for good. To learn more, and to possibly experience pangs of hope for humanity, read this thoughtful missive by an impact DAO evangelist and visit Impact DAO and their Gitcoin grants page.
🏥 Poverty Alleviation Protocol. Continuing in the vein of DAOs as change agents, impactMarket - a poverty alleviation protocol enabling vulnerable communities to implement financial inclusive mechanisms, such as Unconditional Basic Income (UBI) - recently onboarded the first borrowers for its microcredit pilot in Brazil. Beyond UBI, impactMarket aims to provide financial services and tools to empower underprivileged people worldwide, unlocking opportunities and human potential.

Tools for DAOs
🤖 Robot to the Rescue. As DAO discord servers scale to thousands of members, verification, onboarding, moderation, and incentivizing engagement become increasingly difficult. Bot-based MEE6 helps DAO community managers automate some of these functions, including basic humanity checks and role assignments.
🖥️ Workflow Management. Experienced DAOists will agree that the logistics around a distributed web3 workforce can be challenging. Dework aims to solve for the challenges faced by both individual contributors looking for work and organizations that are hiring. If you’re seeking work or workers in web3, check it out.
