This week in DAOs - July 14, 2022
A roundup of the most exciting developments in the DAO space.
🎙 DAOs and the law. In the latest episode of DAO or Never we’re joined by Todd Williams, an expert in blockchain law. We go back in time and discuss the OG hack of The DAO, identify basic legal considerations for DAO builders, and wax nostalgic - if that’s even possible so early - on the appeal and benefits of being involved in the DAO space right now. All DAO builders should have an eye on the legal landscape for DAOs. Let this be where you begin. Available on Apple and Spotify.
📑 A Constitution for DAOs. Contrary to popular stereotypes, not everyone in web3 is a total renegade. Many of us believe governance matters. Believers at The Metagovernance Project did the homework of studying DAO constitutions and sharing their recommendations for when you create your own.
💸 Holy raise, Batman! First they selected the guardians, then they filled the Safe. Congrats to (Gnosis) Safe on their $100 million raise that will support their mission to enable the secure management of digital assets, data, and identity. The round was led by blockchain-focused fund 1kx, and includes over 60 strategic partners.
💵 Cash. Moolah. Dinero. Greenbacks. Dough. Nouns. Synonyms for currency, slang. Nouns DAO is tapping into their $28M treasury and awarding grants. We’re rooting for any project focused on saving the world. Lord / Buddah / Allah / Goddess knows we need it.
🧱 Check your DMs, Twitter, Telegram, Discord, texts, email. Everyone in web3 is operating in uncharted waters, and a little consistency wouldn’t hurt. These biz dev and go-to-market tips from Commonwealth’s George Beall might help.
👓 We see you. Arkive has emerged from stealth mode, simultaneously announcing their mission to build the world’s first decentralized physical museum – curated and operated by its members – and its $9.7M seed round, led by Offline Ventures and TCG Crypto. Apply to help build the world’s last museum.
🧠 Brain power is my love language. Applications are open to participate in the 2022 Stanford DAO Workshop, hosted by the Stanford Center for Blockchain Research, in collaboration with the DAO Research Collective. Attendees will study critical issues facing DAOs in small, collaborative workshops. Space is limited.
